SHAOLIN TRAVELING DRAGON PAKUA SET

Siu Lam Yau Loong Pat Kua Khuen

Shaolin Pakua Set

The full name of the set is “Shaolin Traveling Dragon Pakua Set” or “Siu Lam Yau Loong Pat Kua Khuen” in Chinese (Cantonese). In Grandmaster Ho Fatt Nam’s school, where Grandmaster learned the set, it was just called “Pakua”.

This Pakua Set is from Shaolin Kungfu, and not from Pakua Kungfu. It is a set that Grandmaster Wong values much as it was instrumental in his kungfu “enlightenment”. After applying the patterns in this set for combat, Grandmaster Wong was able to understand the combat application of any kungfu patterns even though he might not have learnt them before!

The pictures in this series are culled from a video clip reproduced from FlowingZen.com showing Sifu Anthony Korahais performing the Pakua Set. Another picture series showing the performance of the same set by Sifu Goh Kok Hin more than 20 years ago can be found here.

The names of the patterns in Chinese pronunciation and Chinese characters are provided below
