OVERWHELMING OPPONENTS WITH JUST ONE PATTERN

Wahnam Taijiquan in Sabah
Grandmaster Wong uses just one pattern to overwhelm an Opponent, posed by Sfiu Jamie

Would you beleive that a master may use jsut one patter to overwhelm an opponent irrespective of how the opponent attacks or defends? The opponent may strike, kick, throw or grip, yet the master uses just one pattern to overcome him. The opponent may tries various ways to escape, yet the master controls him using just one pattern! It is fun seeing how this can be done.

Grandmaster Wong provides some impromptu examples in this video series using “Double Dragons Play with Pearl” or “White Monkey Presents Fruit”. Sometimes he uses the two patterns in conjuction.

It is also interesting to note that many people think the pattern “Double Dragon Plays with Water” is only decorative without concrete combat functions. It is amazing that Grandmaster Wong demonstrates so many applications with it – and all without pre-arrangement. All the examples illustrate answers to questions asked on the spot.
